    • How does the Lamborghini Urus do on a roadcourse? Hockenheim GP laptime test

It is somewhat odd that one expects an SUV to be able to be able to provide good laptimes but that is where the evolution of performance SUV's takes us today. The Lamborghini Urus of course having lofty performance expectations due to being a Lamborghini.

So how does the Urus do on the Hockenheim GP circuit? Well, you can see it is hard to hide the heft and there is a touch of understeer. It goes a bit wide out of turns but this is 4850+ pound vehicle and physics still apply.

The Urus does a 1:57.10. That is stellar.

For context, the Mercedes-AMG GT 63 S 4-Door Coupe does a 1:52.8. The Urus is on the heels of some excellent sports cars:

      61. McLaren MP4-12C Spider unknown 1:54.10 625 / 1512
      62. Honda NSX (Mk II) unknown 1:55.30 581 / 1766
      63. Corvette Grand Sport Uwe Sener 1:55.30 466 / 1583
      64. Mercedes-Benz AMG GT S Uwe Sener 1:55.40 522 / 1617
      65. KTM X-Bow R Horst von Saurma 1:56.00 304 / 855
      66. Porsche 911 GT3 (997) unknown 1:56.41 415 / 1395
      67. Porsche 911 Carrera GTS unknown 1:56.90 430 / 1395
      68. Lamborghini Urus unknown 1:57.10 650 / 2305
      69. Porsche Cayman GT4 (981) unknown 1:57.40 385 / 1340
      70. Porsche 911 GT3 RS (997) unknown 1:57.44 415 / 1375
      71. Chevrolet Corvette Z06 (C6) unknown 1:57.90 512 / 1437
      72. Aston Martin Vantage Uwe Sener 1:57.90 510 / 1685
      73. Porsche 911 GT3 RS (997) Felix Aretz 1:59.10 415 / 1375

Tracking a Urus might not be so crazy but one can imagine going through brake pads pretty quickly as well as how many laps the SUV could actually do before temps got too hot. One could also argue it is mostly brute force that hustles it around the circuit.

Still, this is a nearly 5000 pound vehicle 2/10's off a Porsche 991.2 GTS. It certainly can have some in the curves.
