    • Lamborghini Huracan Performante vs. Porsche 991.2 Turbo S drag and rolling races

These are two heavyweights that you simply have to watch go at it even if it is the Carwow people doing the comparison. What is interesting to note is these vehicles may have different approaches but both are under the VW halo and competing against each other.

The Huracan is the more expensive car and the Performante is the track special. In the philosophy of design the GT2 RS would actually make more sense for a comparison as it is also designed with the roadcourse in mind but the video is not doing any roadcourse testing.

For acceleration blasts not many cars do it better than a 911 Turbo. The twin turbo 3.8 liter flat-6 provides plenty of torque and all wheel drive helps put that down to the tarmac. It also helps the Turbo is relatively light in this day and age.

The Performante is roughly 150 pounds lighter though according to US tests but the European version does not have to meet the same crash test standards and is even lighter. It is of course also all wheel drive but the 5.2 liter V10 is naturally aspirated. The extra aero drag for the roadcourse does not help with acceleration.

So what wins? In the drag race the Turbo S gets the edge off the line and the Huracan can not fully close the gap. They are pretty close though.

      1/4 mile:

      991.2 Turbo S - 10.2
      Huracan Performante - 10.4

Now the rolling race. What is this? Carwow actually goes from 2nd gear at 40 mph? It is almost as if the criticism of not starting rolling races in the right gear and waiting for gearboxes to kickdown finally got through to them.

The Performante gets a jump and the Turbo can not catch up. Not exactly well done but it is what it is. At least it isn't the gearbox downshifting that decides it.

      Enjoy.

Can the Turbo S count as a sleeper? I know it's a Porsche, and everyone knows they're fast...but THIS fast? 10.2 stock? That's ludicrous.
